A question about monitering

How can you moniter all incomming data from what ever your connection is to the internet?
And how can you moniter everything that your computer is sending out?

what kind of everything did you have in mind? you can use something like ntop to monitor traffic and collect aggregate details for a huge amount of areas. there are many others besides though.

I mean all data that is sent to my PC and all data it sends out. So if there is a malicious program that is causing it to broadcast anything out of the modem or NIC, I can see what is being sent.
