a down interface is not shown


Hi
I am curently working on kernel 2.0.34.
After firing "ifconfig lo down" command and then using
"ifconfig -e" it does not display the the down interface.
Can anyone please guide me how to display the down
interface without using "ifconfig lo up"

Use "ifconfig" plain and simple.
It'll list your interfaces and show if they're "up" or "down".
