I'm not surprised. I would also bet that the increase in piracy also has to do with the draconian measures being taken up, to 'thwart' piracy in the first place. If the big guys are going to treat everyone like a software pirate, then what do they expect when their efforts blow up in their faces?
Just like the makers of that Spore game found out, and countless other game companies.
Sony too will sooner or later have their efforts 'to thwart' piracy backfire badly on them, it is only a matter of time.
The fact that "...software piracy around the world has risen again..." points to the failure of an Open source and Free Software. Sadly enough, majority of people and companies would still prefer proprietary software against an open source.
Can it be any coincidence that Georgia is on the Black Sea with a tradition of piracy dating from 258 AD? Arh! Shiver me timbers and pass the ammunition!
