Politics is chock full of people like this. They are pure poison to any cause, AFAIC. This sort of lowest-common-denominator herd censorship is a main reason why liberal politics is so mind-numbingly neutered and castrated -- and thus entirely ineffective. Which is what some people want of course...

I just said that I didn't see the difference, and I still don't. No question asked.

So it looks like someone else didn't read any of the actual mailing list postings?

Couldn't... link didn't work for me.

Anyways, the course of action was correct in this case. This was a environment that did not work for her, she spoke up and disliking the response, left.
I'm skeptical of people saying "healthier" and this:

Quote:
“I would prefer that maintainers find healthier ways to communicate when they are frustrated,” she writes, adding “I would prefer that the Linux kernel have more maintainers so that they wouldn’t have to be terse or blunt.”
makes warning bells go off. Similar to when people push changes with "common sense logic" as their backend.

She hasn't specified specifically why this method is less effective beyond that she.. doesn't like it.

In any case, the only thing I agree with that should be fixed is this (and appearing to be the only "concrete" issue:

Quote:
I did not want to work professionally with people who were allowed to get away with subtle sexist or homophobic jokes.

Beyond that - I find it non-applicable.

marc.info is down at the moment, but was up when the link was posted. You can also check lkml: https://lkml.org/lkml/2013/7/15/403

I think you'll find that no one 'likes' it, a long established clique just put up with it and accept it as the "culture" of kernel development.
