Yum?

Hi all

Maybe a stupid question, but i don't have YUM installed on my Linux/ Red Hat server

Code:
# cat /etc/*release*
Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 4 (Nahant Update 8)
Can anyone point me in the right direction for installing the RIGHT yum package?

Thx ;-)

Your choice between search LQ and a post from 2006: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...el-4-a-505592/ advice from 2010: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...5/#post4139751 advice from 2011: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...3/#post4315818 and http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...2/#post4321384
or using your favorite search engine and finding a Centos Wiki page from 2008: http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Packag...47e5d735a10c2a if you have read and understood all those warnings issued...

Unfortunately, RHEL 4 was never built to support YUM. So any solution you might find is necessarily a hack.

Back in those days, RHEL 4 used their own update system called up2date. You should still be able to use it if your RHN subscription is still alive.
