Question XMGL(?) Installsion Help for Ubuntu 7.10 & VMware

Greetings,

I would like to use some 3D applications such as Avant Window Manager as just for the fun of it, and I run in to the problem with the CPU overloading. I came accross that VMware doesn't support 3D hardware acceleration & I googled the issue with an application called XMGL.

I'm new to all the command-line OS *UNIX and so I would like to know if there's an easy-to-follow tutorial of how to install this almost as if I was two years of old. Are there any, or could anyone help me out. The README file lost me.

Here are my distro details:
Linux distro [Guest]: Ubuntu 7.10 Gusty Gibbon
-Press enter on everything in the installsion of VMware Tools.
VM Version: VMware Workstation 6
Platform: i386
Host(?) OS Windows Vista Ultimate

Thank You,
Kevin
