Ximian Evolution on kde --using RH 7.3

Hello All:

Does Evolution work w/ kde?
I took a look at the files and there's a lot of gnome stuff. So what's up w/ kde?

Nope - the installer from Ximian will work out what's needed and install it. Cunningly you will also notice that it takes some perfectly good files and removes them, only to install the same files with a '-ximian' extension.

That aside, it installs with little fuss and works well. You may find that it tries to use Galeon as it's default browser. If you like Galeon, that's not a problem.

Oh. Quick question:

Downloading a 300+ meg file through a modem with the command wget seems like it would take a spell. If I disconnect before completing the download will wget pick up where it left off, or will it try to begin again?
If it doesn't try to pick up where it left off, is there a way I can make it do that?
And if I get impatient if it tries to begin again then how do I turn it off?

Thanks,

I think that wget allows you to take up where you left off. Don'tknow too much about it. 'Man wget' should provide an answer. Just remembered, the wget doesn't take long, it just downloads the installer - the main program then downloads, that's the long part.

Ximian say (here) that Evolution on RH7.3 is only supported if you have Ximian Desktop installed as well. Whether that means that they know it won't work without it or if they won't let you get telephone support without it I don't know.

Good luck. (I've never had a problem with the download)
