xclock hands color

I am running gnome on FC3. When I run this command:

xclock -bg black -fg goldenrod

The hands color stay black. while

oclock -bg black -fg goldenrod

runs fine with hands in goldenrod. I also tried "-hands goldenrod" on xclock with the same result ( black on black). Any clues? thanks

Xclock's hands & dial have been very unreliable with color changing lately - I can't change anything but the background on mine. . .

I have the same problem with not being able to change the color of the hands, but changing the background to any color works. :P
