X Server

hello,

i been using slackware for a little bit, and having problems with permission. when i try to start X as a normal user, by typing startx or launch a application from the cli i get an error saying:
Code:
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified
but when i do it as root it works fine. I'm trying to steer away from using the root account, because everyone tells me its a bad habit logging in as root all the time.

thanks,

djgerbavor3
