Wireless Network SSID?

How to I identify which wireless network I am on? When I do

/sbin/ifconfig

the output does not give the network SSID. Sorry for the silly question, but here is student housing there are quite a few!

i think a few spacifics might be useful inorder to help you out.
what card are you using? (linksys, d-link.....) i know that with the linksys there is a config file to edit inorder to specify your ssid. i may not be able to help too much since i am new to wireless but i just might be. lol

i saw from another post that you appear to be running FC2 -- if this is correct, than the
redhat wizards and such should be avail. to you...

try referencing this page:

Got it

Yeah, got it, thanks! The best way is

/sbin/iwconfig

Then you can see which router the wifi picked up if you have it set to jump on the first one it sees.
