If this is a HP LaserJet 1600, here is a link showing the driver.

-->http://openprinting.org/show_printer..._LaserJet_1600

Install cups through Yast. Install the driver, and configure it through cups. For that you open a web browser, and type :

http://localhost:631 in for a URL. That will connect you to Cups. Log as root, add the printer. Use test page to verify local operation.

To share it, you with windoze, you will need a samba server running. Look in the tutorials section for help, that is not a simple topic. Once shared through cups, windoze users should be able to print to it. If you have other linux clients, they need cups also, they do not need samba.

There are two printers, with 1160 as their machine type.

Here is the one -->http://openprinting.org/show_printer...-LaserJet_1160

and the other -->http://openprinting.org/show_printer...Printer_CP1160

The advice is still the same. Install the correct driver, Cups etc. The driver for either 1160 appears to be the same. It may well be available through your package manager, look there first.
