Just starting with this OS. The native HD is 260 Gb and I have a never used 1Tb Seagate 2.5" drive Im hoping to throw into the spare bay. Will Zorin OS-lite recognize and prompt for formatting as a new drive letter?

Zorin should recognize the 1TB Seagate but will not format it unless you, the user, tell it to. Do you plan to install Zorin to the Seagate? It will not assign it a drive letter such as you are familiar with from windows. That is a naming convention carried over from the pre-windows operating systems of the 1970's. You need to familiarize yourself with Linux drive naming conventions. Are you planning to keep your current windows installed and is it on the 'native' drive.

Zorin should give you several options during the install and you need to be familiar with them. If you have a current install of windows 8/10, read the information at the link below on dual booting using UEFI. If you don't know what UEFI is you need to read up on it. The link below is to the Ubuntu site and if you have any information on Zorin, you should know its relationship to Ubuntu. Thank you for the resource links. I also found a video tutorial on this very topic. I'm reading up on the file structure differences between windows and linux and UEFI in general.

I had planned to keep the OS on the smaller boot drive, and use the 1Tb partition for programs & data - this box would not be dual boot. The cpu/mb resources are aged but actually one of the premium combos that still hold up well performance wise. I expect the efficiency & speed gains from linux will give it quite a boost. Like I said, this is a learning experience for me. Thanks again!
