Will Linux Run My Old Reflex 2.0 database program?

I've been using an old Boralnd International database program under Windows for many years. The latest changes in their operating system have rendered this program almost useless. I can still run it under XP-Pro, but not with Windows 7. Is there any hope I could used it on a Linux based system?

Hi,

No, Linux won't run it natively. You'll need to run it with Wine or another Windows emulation/compatibility layer program or with a compatible version of Windows in a VM.

Look for the DoxBox Emulator. That should do the job of providing a DOS environment for Reflex (wikipedia). Dosbox is in the repositories for Ubuntu and probably readily available for other common distributions.

Reflex ... does that bring back memories! I used that after the Loma Prieta earthquake to collect health and welfare traffic from the amateur radio operators and form it into a file I could feed the Red Cross internal e-mail system.

Reflex

If that does not work, you might look into FREEDOS and/or ReactOS to see if there is a solution there.
