Why convert our M$ ISA server to squid ???

HI everybody,

At work, I'm looking for few reasons to convert some of our M$ servers to linux .. I started with DNS and I managed to get it to work .. so now my question is ... what is the gain if I converted our ISA server to linux ???

(note: money is not an issue .. but the features and stability of the product is more important? )

One of the key-values of a Linux box would be
better performance, I suppose. You're running
a linux-box headless, thus without a GUI, which
will (in comparison to any more recent M$ OS)
give you heaps of more RAM for caching ;)

Then there's the issue of vulnerabilities: on a
tied-down and tightened linux machine that
doesn't run anything but the one service it's
made for you won't have to worry about too
many exploits or worms/viruses.

Cheers,
Tink
