I found recently trying to get the AVG live installed on a Toshiba 4GB key that wouldn't work that the partitions didn't appear right when I ran 'fdisk -l'. I deleted the factory partitions and tried again and it worked perfectly. So now I always clear unknown partitions and start from scratch. No more troubles.

Thanks for the input. I had the same experience, with "fdisk -l" telling me that there was something funny with the partitions on the USB keydrives that wouldn't boot.

How did you erase the partitions and reformat the keydrive?
