I have created a LAN, where my PC and my Laptop are connected to a router and I'm trying to configure my PC to work as an (anonymous) ftp server. I've been trying for a couple of days to find a suitable, mainstream ftp program, which is e_a_s_y to configure. However, i haven't yet been succesful;i've downloaded some of them and i haven't yet been able to configure any. Has anybody a suggestion?
I prefer PureFTPD and ProFTPD. The second one probably has a package for Slack. Pure may have one too, but I'm not sure. They don't have graphical configuration tools by default (but if I recall correctly, such tools exist), but their configuration file format and documentation are rather clear.
I am a newb and setup an ftp server on my slackware box and was able to do it farily easily with ncftp. I would recommend you use i haven't used it much so I dont know if there are any problems with it.
