Which apps are coming in Ubuntu 20.04

I am new to this, just installed Ubuntu on a seprate partition on my Surface Pro-3 (Windows 10) after clearing enough space on the SSD.
Found out in the proccess those many application programs that are included.

But, I have no idea what each one is, there is a name and and icon.

Executing the command line : dpkg --list x* provides a criptic list of names, but not what each one is, not even a short description.

Is there somwhere a more excplicit list?

I looked at "Click here to find Similar threads..." there is nothing there close to my query

Thank you
Alex

alex4buba,

Install Synaptic Package Manager with the following command:

Code:
sudo apt-get install synaptic
Launch Synaptic from Applications and click on Status.

Then search around and look under All and Installed for package descriptions.

The thread title reads like a Black Friday Sale advertisment, a bit misleading IMO.

Anyhow, you're much better off formulating a search query instead of wanting to see ALL programs.
For example:
Code:
apt search video player
Nevertheless, +1 for synaptic.
