This statement is open ended, it is asking opinions, it does not explain why, and it does not offer any thoughts towards what is expected to be discussed. As a result, the responses or queries for clarification will likely occur. Best I can recommend is to draft your question, preview it and see if you can perceive how it would appear to someone who doesn't fully know your reasons for asking the question, nor has any idea what your setup is configured as.

This seems a very clear indication of what you were seeking opinions about and a reason why. Please consider providing something like this for future questions.
My comments and pros/cons, based on the added description:- It is very common to set up your system partition table and arrangement of disks so as to segregate your personal data from the OS. While Linux does this by directory structure, it does not automatically do this by partition scheme and mapping to physical disks. The flexibility does exist very much to do this and many people do practice this.
- Security and collaboration are potential items to consider. If this is a single user system and never expected to have any team collaboration, then these are not of any high level of concern. Still, please understand that some persons work with server based systems and they support multiple users, where a large portion of every technical decision about how to provide Linux services and configure user environments are very much a strong consideration for them. If people understand that the question relates to a single user situation where no other users are ever to be involved, it may shape their responses to suit what you're looking for.
- When you use the term "media", it is unclear if you are referring to 'temporarily mounted media such as a USB thumbstick, or one which will always be present while your system operates.
- A PRO for temporary/removable media is that you can keep it separate.
- A CON is that if this represents your /home, unmounting it and removing it during system operation may cause an operating system to have trouble because an expected user's data turns up unexpectedly missing.
- A PRO is that you need not remove a remove-able media during system run time and you can leave it in, but you can also remove it in an ordered fashion, prior to, or just after shutdown, if you so desire.
Are there any specific other technical merits or drawbacks you are concerned about with segregating your /home from your OS?
