what if no dhclient pump or dhcpd?

Hi,

I'm trying out a certain live linux CD and doesn't have any of tools which I usually used to pull an ip address from the dhcp server on the local lan.

is there any other way of getting assigned an ip address without using these tools?

double check your commands, it should be dhcpcd not dhcpd shouldn't it?
