Weird Gnome problem

Im having this strange problem with gnome. I installed a new theme, and the theme worked fine, up until I logged out and tried to log back in as the same user. Now, when I log back in, my desktop background comes up, but the panels do not. Instead, I get a little message saying something along the lines of "Theres a panel already running". I close it, and it just pops up again like 10 times. I cant really do anything except open a termial. Assuming theres some way to fix that, what's the problem?
