vmlinuz and initrd

Is there any difference in "initrd.img and vmlinuz" file for RHEL5 boot.iso and RHEL6 boot.iso.

Sorry for the typo.

My question was ,vmlinuz and initrd file in RHEL5-boot.iso and the same in RHEL-6-boot.iso is similar or different.?

Hi,

Sorry for the misunderstanding on my part. Of course vmlinuz and initrd are different between RHEL5 and 6. Since vmlinuz is the kernel in compressed form and RHEL5 and 6 have different kernel versions there is a difference in vmlinuz between those versions of OS. The initrd image is the temporary file system that gets loaded into memory on boot and can be different also. You can always check the contents of the initrd file.

I was trying to create RHEL5 boot.iso from RHEL6-boot.iso. I have downloaded RHEL6-boot.iso and then tried created the boot.iso for RHEL5.Also I have cutomized the isolinux.cfg as based on my requirements. But when I tried to boot, it was not showing me the customized labels which I did.

I suspect vesamenu.c32 is not working properly. Is there any way to make it work using RHEL6-boot.iso ?
