Download iso image from fedoraproject.org,live cd version,so that you can try it before installing.If youl like it,boot from a cd and just follow instructions.My advice is to already have two partitions ready for Fedora,one for / and one for swap space,before installing,also those partitions should be logical.Install GRUB on the MBR,Fedora will detect Vista and you will see it in the boot menu,so you will be able to boot into both.That's it.
When you install Fedora it will install grub. You do not need to bother about it. Just remember not to check "NO boot loader" option. I have not used fedora in recently but RH based systems do ask if you need boot loader or not.
