VirtualBox and Linux.


hi all.

i am using windows 7 in my laptop
and linux is installed on virtualBox
but my problem is the screen is showing small in virtualbox
is there any way to enalarge the screen to show like windows screen?
i did before by using VGA setting but it made problem me
i was not able to use GUI interface i meant graphics interface
it was just showing me Command Prompt...

plz suggest me the correct way..

Start the VM then select menu: Devices->Install Guest Additions...

hi

thanks for reply.
installed the Guest Addition and i saw the screen changes but its not full screen.
there is any other command to enalarge the screen to full mood?

It all is explained in the Virtualbox Manual: To go fullscreen you have to press [Host]+f.

i just pressed ctrl+F.

i did not understand about Host+F.

Host is the ctrl key on the right side of the keyboard.

hi

i pressed the ctrl+f key and came full screen but for the virtualbox not for linux screen
there are still black screen on both sides of the screen.

You might need to play with your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file as root (or sudo) if it exists (depends on distro used)
somewhere in the file you will find a line:

default depth XX (XX usually 24)

and later on

SubSection "Display"
Depth 24
Modes "1280x1024" "1024x768" "832x624" "800x600" "720x400" "640x480"
EndSubSection

Just add your desired resolution first in the above line and you might solve your problem.

I had similar issues with virtualbox and if I remember well I solved it the way I described.

for linux vm to be full screen, you need to install the VBOXLinux installer on the Install Guest Client CD. after it reboot your vm then select full screen.
