User Specific Startup scripts

I have just finished installing Mandrake 9.1 and I was wondering.....

Is it possible to have user specific login scripts?

Basically what I want to do is have the users login with the CLI login prompt, then depending on the user, run startx.

I want root and my user account to NOT start X, but the other 2 start x automatically after logging in.

Is this possible?

Any guidance for this Linux newbie will be greatly accepted

there are a number of user specific startup scripts, depending on the shell the user has. for example, bash uses the ~/.bashrc file. ~/.profile is also used. if you look at the man page for the shell, it should mention what file (and in what order) are read.

Perfect!!

I just edited the ~/.bash_profile script and now my two users pop right into X, while root and my login start with the CLI.

Thanks much. I appreciate it.
