my linux system keeps hanging several times...what do I do? I reset the system couple of times and tried to continue working but it still keeps hanging... please let me know what to do?
Find out why the system is hanging. This can be anything from a bug in a device driver to faulty hardware to a dodgy mains connection.
What were you doing when the system hung? Can you reproduce it? Once the system has hung, can you get to a text-mode virtual terminal using Ctrl+Alt+F1 and can you ping the computer from a network?
After rebooting, you may find information in /var/log/messages or other files under /var/log/ to indicate what the problem might have been (depending on the reason for hanging).
Also, you probably want to check a hardware-compatibility database for known issues with the hardware that you are using; e.g. ATI video drivers have certain configuration requirements IIRC.
