Question unable to mount cdrom

When I tried several times to mount my cdrom
mount -t iso9660 /dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom -o ro

I keep getting this message
wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hdc, or too many mounted file systems

/etc/fstab reads this for the cdrom
/dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom iso9660 defaults,ro,user,noauto 0 0

I changed the device name, I have two cdrom drives, I disconnected one, still will not work...I can't get it to work no matter what I do!

I can use all the help I can get ....Please.
