Unhappy Unable to log in and disconnected from the networks.

Hello,

While cleaning the system manually, SolydX-10, i did something very wrong ... now i'm not able to login into the session, a window with an information is there:

xfconfd is not executing configuration problems D-Bus $XDG_CONFIG_DIRS set up incorrect, etc is not included. xfce4 is wrong installed.

When going into the system via recovery mode, with the command: "startxfce4", a new xfce4 panel is coming up, but it does not have access to the networks, then i got to be conected by this command:

Code:
/etc/init.d/network-manager restart
but that is all, i don't know what else to do to fix the problem of how to log in and how to be conected again after reboot ...

If any other information is necessary, please do not hesitate to ask.

Thanks for any adviced.

EDIT:

I found the following in google and i did it:

Code:
export XDG_CONFIG_DIRS=/etc/xdg

sudo chown -R $USER $HOME

sudo chmod 644 /etc/xdg

mv ~/.config/xfce ~/.config/xfce.bak

rm -r ~/.cache/sessions/
Now the window with the errors, after login and enter, are not coming any more but it reboot back to login again.

Hi Camello,

Could you explain what you think you did that was "very wrong" and what you were attempting with "cleaning the system manually" ? This might help members here in advising you.

If I'm guessing correctly that you've deleted important system files, it may be simpler for you to back up any important data and then reinstall. If it's something else, please elaborate.

Thanks,

Rick

Unhappy

Thank you very much for answering my concern but unfortunately it comes very late since I already uninstalled the system.
What i did very wrong? I was trying to make a 'backup' as it is recommended, the only problem with is that none of these tools are compressible for me ... The created image was towards a wrong place and the system was 'paralyzed' (HD -F was giving 100 %) -- then I started looking for / clean ...
While there is no simple tool, without complexities, for a regular user to handle it, I will not install more systems, it is a waste of time.
Only MXLinux has that tool, which is not a panacea either, but at least with a little patience and help, it is possible to resolve the matter.

You were so confident that you preset the apt command to answer 'yes' to any question?

When you ran
Code:
sudo chown -R $USER $HOME
what was the value of $USER & $HOME?
For example, if you were in a recovery situation, is it just possible that $USER = "ROOT"?

It's a really bad idea to run random commands especially if you need to use sudo to make them work.

You can't trust the internet, most especially Google ....

It is a good advice, also sometimes I have to look better because some searches throw very old dates with remedies that no longer apply and most of those writings do not even have a date of publication.
