Unable to find/use Installed Packages in Vector Linux.

I got a package for Wine from my Red Hat CD, converted it to the tgz format in Vector Linux and installed it. Now I am unable to find it in either my start menu or my desktop icon. Please assist in using this package.

Thanks.

Vijay

Build it from the source. Converting packages is generally not a good idea, things like desktop integration won't work correctly

Thanks this is very good to know. What does the term - build it from source exactly mean. I am very new to this. So a detailed basic explanation will greatly help.

Thanks.

Download the .tar.gz file for the latest release, run ./tools/wineinstall from the new directory.

On second thoughts, i'd learn a bit more about linux before playing with wine like this.......
