I am using Ubuntu Jaunty on an AMD 32 bit machine. I did the following after searching Google and Ubuntu data bases.
sudo apt-get --purge remove mythtv
This is the response I get: Package mythtv is not installed, so not removed
rm -rf .mythtv, rm -rf mythtv
and
sudo rm -rf .mythtv
Only returns me to my input prompt
Now comes the really strange part.
When I check properties on the folder this is what I get:
Owner: 116 User - #116
Group: 128
SELinux context: unknown
Last changed: unknown
You are not the owner, so you cannot change these permissions.
The basic properties has this information:
Type: folder (inode/directory)
Contents: Nothing
I don't know how that 116 information got installed, so I don't have any idea what do to now. I can open the folder, but I don't want it on my machine.
My user 116 is pulse-access, yours may be mythtv. try going to System> Administration> Users and Groups.Unlock it and click "Manage Groups" button.Look for any entries containing Mythtv. Highlight entry and select properties to find id #. For # 116 make sure your name is checked - might as well also check off root. Close that then gksudo nautilus. Select problem folder; right-click and select properties and then permissions tab. Give yourself permissions to create and delete files, close and delete folder.
I want to Thank lidex. I didn't know about Nautilus and it worked great. It is going into my quick reference list of directions that I am making. Thank You very much.
