As far as I know, there is not a CentOS server edition. During the installation process of CentOS 6 you will be asked if you want to install as a server, a desktop, a minimal desktop and so on. The proper packages will be installed accordingly and the X server will be left out.

Again, as you were asked before, you need to spell out your words. You originally asked about CentOS in February; in that time, did you happen to come across the CentOS website?? Perhaps click the "Download" button on the front page?
https://www.centos.org/modules/tinyc...ndex.php?id=13

Hundreds of options...pick one.

If you have a specific question/problem, yes. Otherwise, what can we tell you? What KIND of virtual machine? On what hardware? What problems/error(s) do you see? Google is a good starting point for such questions.

Tried with installation

Hello,

Thank u for reply. I have tried with CentOs installation but never went through any such steps in which it asked me to select for desktop edition or Server edition.

AGAIN: SPELL OUT YOUR WORDS.

Colucix hit it on the head...it should prompt you for such things on installation time. What steps DID you follow?? In your original post, you implied you didn't know how to do the installation. Unless you provide details, we can't help...

Well, I've just recently installed Centos 6.2 (x86_64) and it definitely offered me about 6 options in terms of what sort of system I wanted....

See 3.19 Customize Package Selection http://www.if-not-true-then-false.co...-installation/ for screen-shots of entire process

There is no such thing as a CentOS server edition, not in the sense that there is a Ubuntu server edition that is different from the desktop edition. CentOS is a server edition.

When you install CentOS, it will ask you what software load you want. This link will explain the options: http://www.centos.org/docs/5/html/5....ction-x86.html
