Ugh, startx, how to get into X remotely with X Forwarding...?
Hello. I'm trying to get X Forwarding working between my laptop and my Linux PC. I can logon perfectly fine using ssh, but I've hit a snag. It seems that X is already running (runs at startup), and I don't have the privileges to run a startx. X Forwarding is on in ssh_config and sshd_config, I've enabled X Tunneling in PuTTy (also doesn't work with Cygwin). So how do I get into this crazy thing?
user@Box:~$ startx
X: user not authorized to run the X server, aborting.
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Invalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 key
giving up.
xinit: unable to connect to X server
xinit: No such process (errno 3): Server error.
Couldnt get a file descriptor referring to the console
user@Box:~$ kdm
Only root wants to run kdm.
user@Box:~$
Thanks.
