Ubuntu Software Centre problem in Ubuntu 11.10

Hi. I've just upgraded to Ubuntu 11.10 and cannot get the Ubuntu Software Centre to function - I just get an empty screen. Advice as to how to get it to work would be welcome. Thanks

try running sotware center from the command line and see if you are getting any error messages !
Code:
$: sudo software-centern --enable-lp

Someone else posted that they could not get to the Ubuntu Software Centre after upgrading to the new version. I too am having this problem. I would try the above advice, but I am so new to Ubuntu that I don't know what a command line is or where to find it. After I get some direction on this, and supposing I do get an error message, then what do I do? And what if I don't get an error message then what?

I kind of regret upgrading to quickly. I had only been using Ubuntu three days when the upgrade notice popped up. I was barely getting used to what I had and now I feel like I am having to start over somewhat.

Go to system>Applications>terminal (or gnoterm,xterm, something with TERM in it)
So click what would be the 'start' on windows, Go to Application on the menu that pops up, click Terminal (or variant of).

Then you can type what people have recommended this way:

Code:
$ sudo words stuffblah
If someone has asked for the OUTPUT, that means after you press enter, what ever the computer displays back to you, you copy & paste to your posts.
