ubuntu desktop problem...


Hi...

i have installed ubuntu-8.10-desktop-i386, after installation when its ask for user name and password ( i am not using ROOT user), i can't see my desktop...my keyboard getting hangup and mouse is working.....


Kindly give me solution...

Have you tried switching to a different virtual console.

crtl-alt-F2
And try starting X manually.
Code:
startx
(If X is able to start, it means that their might be a start up program on what ever desktop environment that your using that is causing the GUI to fail)
