Will Ubuntu automatically download a generic driver for dell inspiron 1150 wireless card?

Hi, and welcome to LQ!

In a word, no. The 'generic' drivers are an integral part of the Linux kernel. The easiest way to tell if it will work is to run the 'LiveCD' and try it.

If it does not work, most often you can find a fix.
