I have no experience with samba; but I can point you to the right help file
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Co...ht=%28samba%29
If you need further assistance perhaps someone else more experienced than I can help, or try searching the http://ubuntuforums.org/ for samba help.

sudo apt-get install samba && sudo apt-get install samba-common
This will install what you need to use samba to exchange files with a windows computer. You can also install with the GUI in the Synaptics package manager. Once installed, you will have to set it so that they can see each other. In Ubuntu, you can right click on any folder you want to share and set its sharing properties, and you do virtually the same thing in windows to share folders. You should be able to go to Places>Network to open files from the windows shares, and My Network Places in Windows. It's all really simple.
