Question Ubuntu 10.11 sound messed up?

I just upgraded from Ubuntu 10.04 to 10.11. I'm now without proper working sound.

It's hard to describe what it does but here goes: When playing a sound file or runs anything that plays a sound (browser, youtube, banshee mp3 or anything) it skips into the track. Like it cuts away pieces as on an old dirty scratchy LP.

I upgraded flash and I tried to upgrade alsa but I don't really know what to do exactly.

CA0110 is my sound device, I can't see a direct support for that on alsa wiki, but it did work flawless before upgrading.

I know I can't do a rollback to 10.04, since I was too stupid to take a backup and automatically thought that a official upgrade/release were without such problems, but apparently I was fooled.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I feel it could be a simple tweak somewhere in the settings, but I don't know exactly where to look.

Thanks in advance!!

Update: I found out that ALSA dosen't support CA0110 (SB X-fi extreme) but I don't get why it worked on 10.04 (Natty) but not 11.10 ocelot?

Are there anyway that I can make it act as if it was the PCI and not PCIe card? CA0106, since it's listed as "unkown" rather than "dosen't work" ??

any help would be appriciated alot!

I am having similar problems on my Acer Aspire One. The sound and video would play decently until the upgrade. Now it skips on video and sound ever second or so.

Specs:

Memory: 1GB
Processor: Intel Atom CPU @ 1.44GHz x2
Graphics: Software Rasterizer
OS Type: 32-bit
