tuxguardian

I needed an application layer firewall and for this reason I installed tuxguardian.

It does not work .

The tuxguardian icon appears in the tray. When you put the cursor on it, it says tuxguardian working. No pop-up windows appear nor are the application blocked from accessing the internet.

I tried to manually edit the daemon.conf file to block the ping application with the same result. The ping app accessed the internet.

The daemon.conf file had been empty which I guess is the default in a fresh install.

Do you know whats wrong or can you tell me some test to understand what's wrong.

Thank you very much in advance!

Did you make sure you had a proper kernel and everything else?

#modprobe tuxg

FATAL: Error inserting tuxg (/lib/modules/2.6.17-5mdv/tuxg.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

I have read this. My kernel is 2.6.17.

The following options are set:

ENABLE DIFFERENT SECURITY MODELS
SOCKET AND NETWORKING SECURITY HOOKS
