Trouble with monitor


Hello. I am trying to set my monitor back to normal for my linux but it wont let me no matter what i do.
i tryed Xconfigurator doesn't even reconize it as a command
I tryed systemedit nothing there for it
/etc/X11/XF8Config.backup permission denied even if i am log in as root.

If i cant get monitor back to normal i cant go into the GNOME any one got any suggestion.

First of all what distro are you using? You should be able to find the XF86Config file under /etc/X11/XF86Config or something similar. If a file doesn't give you permission even as root, then you can give yourself permission using chmod + the appropriate permissions you want to give (r w x etc.). Hope that helps.

holding down ctl-alt-f2 login as root and type redhat-config-xfree86
