Transliteration on linux

Hello,

is there a transliteration tool like google transliteration that could run on linux. I have tried scim but it doesn't provide smooth conversion from one language to other. And spacebar is also problem when trying to transliterate with SCIM.

Has anyone tried it on linux?

Do you mean like going from Devanagari to Roman, or Cyrillic to Roman, or something like that? Perl's pretty easy for that when dealing with text files, if you want something custom yet quick to implement.
