hi. .
Can tata photon plus(HUAWEI EC1261) be used on opensuse 11.3. . ?????
i am trying to install but not able to do. . if anyone using, please help me giving the details about installing and configuring. .
Might help if you actually provided details...just telling us "not able to do", doesn't give us anything to go on. What have you done/tried? What messages do you get?? And as always, have you checked Google about this, since there is a LOT of information (including articles on the Tata site), about how to get this working under Linux.
You can go into Yast, and set up a new modem device and connection, or you can install usb_modeswitch & usb_modeswitch-data, and use wvdialconf to set up a connection. Also, since your last posts:

OK well behaved fellow. .
Why do you expect to come back, and get details about things, after talking to people like that???

below is the link
and also i configured modem also giving the photon details. .
when i click on qinternet launch icon its tells modem is connected, and if i run ifconfig command i am not getting the IP. .
and sir i hope everyone forgets about the past and i hope you have forgotten too. .
and if you are thinking that you are helping me, and yes you are!!! and also you are helping other's who are facing the same problem. .

From the link you posted:
Code:
Step 3 ["I'm totally lost" case]:
There are still some cases where each and every step goes well and even it showed you "Connection established!" but actually
you are not connected! This issue is due to failure of automatic name server resolve! There are some readily available
solutions by manipulating resolv.conf file in /etc if you google! But, before this, ask your ISP provider to give you some
DNS IP addresses which you will put in that resolv.conf file. My GUI solution is to remove the tick in "Modify DNS when
connected" and in "Automatically retrieve DNS" in "Connection Parameters" screen of Yast modem configuration. To do that
follow step 2 with only this exception and this time click on "Edit" button of "Modem Configuration Overview" screen.
Is this a fresh install of 11.3? If so, 11.4 is the latest, and addresses some bugs like this. Also, have you tried just using wvdialconf and wvdial to make the connection, rather than qinternet?

That's why I volunteer my time here. In the future, you may not want to make smart comments towards others when you're asking for help, and you won't have to apologize for things.
