Swap space for 3GB?

System is RHEL 3, have a 2GB swap partition. I just upgraded memory from 1GB to 3GB. I was about to do the (swap = 2x memory) but I noticed that the Red Hat docs say swap should be no more than 2GB. So do I leave things the way they are or add another swap file?

Thanks

I generally go by the rule of: If ram < 1gb, swap = 2x ram. If ram > 1gb, swap = 1x ram

With that much ram and that much swap, you should be fine without adjusting anything further.

Thanks

I added more memory because my system was coming to its knees with I suppose heavy Gallery usage with PHP-Nuke and PostNuke. With 1GB memory, I would eventually reach about 1GB swap and then the system was mostly unusable unless I stopped/restarted apache and let the swap recover down to about 200MB.
