Hello everyone, a reql quick question that one of the resident ghurhus might be able to answer for me.
My question is in reference to the password utility that comes with the new SuSe 9.1 Pro version.
I am trying to enter my passwords, and some of them are 9-11 letters long.
The problem is, everytime I try to enter a new password, it begs the question:
"Password is too long. Truncate to 8 characters?" Pfft. Like Suse knows my password is too long.
First off, why limit it to 8? The longer the password, the harder to crack, eh?
Sencondly, is there some set of rules (CLI or GUI, but prefer CLI) to manage passwords in *nix in general? I have looked under some menus, but to no avail. Only found things to change the days before password change, etc.
And finally, can I turn OFF this feature?
ahthankyouverymuch.
