Unhappy Suse 9.0 will not boot beyond "Welcome"

Hi

I am brand new to Linux and have just installed Suse 9.0 Professional. I
have run for a week with no problems at all until today. When I boot the
sytem gets to the graphic showing KDE3.1 loading, it gets to "loading
window manager" and then goes from there to the Welcome screen and no
further. Can you help? I am desperate.

My PC dual boots Suse with Win 2000(Grub boot mgr)and has its own 120gb
harddrive. The Win2000 has its own 20gb harddrive.

Looking at the info on the screen whilst booting I noticed the following:

Wrong FS Type, bad option, bad superblock 0/dev/hdb2

No ACPI support in kernel

Hotplug KBD

___________

Also yesterday I was having problems burning cdroms as a lot of faults were
being generated.

I have emails that I really need to access, otherwise I would re-install. I
have tried the rescue approach etc but to no avail....

Any advice you can offer would be really appreciated.

Many thanks
David Benford
