SuSE 9.0 - KDE Menu Editor Help "buggy"

Hi all, everyone here has been a great help.
This coming from a 9 year WindowZ background.

I am using SuSE 9.0 Pro, the "menu editor" appears
to be very buggy in KDE.

So I tried Gnome.
In Gnome:
- clicked "Start Here" on the desktop
- clicked "Applications"
- I am now able to drag and drop icons
into this and they will appear in my "Start Bar"
after logging in/out

Since the KDE Menu Editor is so buggy, is there a similar
place that I can just drag and drop icons into to change
my "Start Menu" in KDE? Directory?

Also in Gnome, the Location bar shows
applications:///

To my fellow SuSE users, it may be worth trying Gnome,
you can chose this option when logging in.

Thank you
