SuSE 10.0

I am running SuSE 10.0 (Not a newbie, just thought I would place question here).

I have never been able get any distro of SuSE to properly work with HP's
5510xi All in One printer. I am using current version of CUPS and KDE.
I have added the HP 5510XI using kdeprinter configuration and with yast2.

1. Driver is HP Officejjet 5510xi foomatic/hpijs (Tried gimp-print also)
2. When I try to print, CUPS sends output to printer, printer looks like
like it is receiving test print, but totally freaks out printer by lighting
all three lamps. I.E. Copy,Fax and SCAN. And LCD display on printer is filled
with garbage.

3. Now when I try using Mandriva 2006 everything works fine, I like SuSE though
and would like to try and resolve problem with HP printer.

4. I have even tried the lower models of the HP, I.E. 5510, 5500, series and I get same
result....

And help would be greatly appreciated....

One other problem is the wireless card. I'll search around for that....

Thanks

Strange...

The symptoms indicate that it's a driver issue, but you have the right driver. Did you check which driver mandriva used? Have you tried reinstalling the printer & checking that there are no paper jams or anything?

Is it a USB printer? bumped into this:

Smile HP 5510xi and USB Printing Problems

Mandrake was using the same driver. I went to the Link that you supplied. Although was not able to
find libusb-devel. So was unable to compile new driver. Down towards the end of the Link I found
they suggested not using the 5510xi.ppd file as there was a problem, so I seleted the Deskjet 3320.ppd file and everything seems to be working fine now. Now I have one more problem and I'll look around before I start a new thread. This is another problem that works on Mandrake but not SuSE.

Thanks Again
