I have Installed of SLES 10, on Dell Optiplex 755 desktop PC, the SLES did not recognize the network card in the other hand when running hardware information I found the following PCI Ethernet controller in the output file:--->

is there any help for configuring the network card?

I actually have a 755 I can test on, just not currently handy (tomorrow at the earliest). But my quick guess is that it's probably an e1000 module that will bring up your card. Instead of the above info, can you post up what you get from opening a terminal and typing:
/sbin/lspci | grep Ethernet

It will help to actually identify the chip on the board.

I've noticed that Suse occaisionally has trouble with graphics and network cards during installation, but those can be configured post-installation with Suse's tools.

From a terminal, try: hwinfo --netcard (if you have the hwinfo utility installed). Hwinfo should tell you the identy of the card, the driver to load, whether or not the driver is active, and the command to use to load it.

After you've made certain the driver is installed, go to Control Center - Yast - Network Devices to configure the network card.

the #/sbin/lspci |grep Ethernet command gave the following output

But when installing fedora it defines the network card as

Intel Corporation 82566DM-2 Gigabit Network Connection

The E1000 module will not work, but the E1000e will. Very frustrating..

I have sled10sp1 here, but don't have e1000e, just e1000. Looks like e1000e is some kind of Oct2007 patch, but I am not sure where you might get this module short of source code, anyone know if there is an rpm or do you need to compile?

Luckily, it came with the default Debian 2.6.23-1-686 Sid/testing install - I didn't have to go out and find it...

I am having the same problem trying to install Linux (slackware current) on a Dell Optiplex 755.
With lspci i can see that an Intel 82566DM-2 was detected, but the network did not work, even using the latest e1000 module taken from Intel.

As you say there is a module called e1000e that works, my hope soared. The question is where can i get it?
Perhaps someone knows a shortcut while i sort hundreds of google search results.

Found it. I is included in linux 2.6.24.xx! (not in 2.6.23 and earlier).

Not yet.
Just trying to plug it in my 2.6.23 kernel did not work.
Than i complied a new Linux 2.6.24.12 and had trouble accessing the SATA HD.(A kernel panic on startup).

I just made a CD set of a brand new slackware-current.
I have no time to test it now. Tomorrow i tell you.

Hurrahh!... It worked!
There is got to exist an easier way, but what matters for me is that i finally have a working network in the Dell 755.
The trick was to use a state-of the art Linux distribution with a 2.6.24 kernel. I used Slackware-Current updated to April 19 2008.
It automatically detected the 82566DM-2 network and installed the e1000e module.
