sudoers

The only way I can connect to the internet with my account user "joe" group "joe" is to become root and then change directory to /joe/home and then dial out with wvdial. Could some one tell me specifically how to use visudo so that I can just use the sudo command as
"joe" to dial out and not be online as root. Joe and group already has complete ownership and privledges. I am noob and visudo seems compicated. Thanks!

Become root and issue the command

visudo

At this stage a file pops up; you have to locate the line that has

root ALL=(ALL) ALL

All you have to do is add the user just underneath so you get

root ALL=(ALL) ALL
joe ALL=(ALL) ALL

This can actually be refined; for example, Joe could be given access to certain root powers while being denied other ones.

That's it, save the file and you should be able to use sudo.
