subnet and VPN

I am trying to setup a Windows to Linux VPN connection but in the PPP config it says to do this:
http://www.cayugalake.net/index.php?...inux-PPTP.html
# IMPORTANT RESTRICTIONS:
#
# 1. No spaces are permitted between commas or within addresses.
#
# 2. If you give more IP addresses than the value of connections,
# it will start at the beginning of the list and go until it
# gets connections IPs. Others will be ignored.
#
# 3. No shortcuts in ranges! ie. 234-8 does not mean 234 to 238,
# you must type 234-238 if you mean this.
#
# 4. If you give a single localIP, that's ok - all local IPs will
# be set to the given one. You MUST still give at least one remote
# IP for each simultaneous client.
# (Recommended)
localip 192.168.1.50
remoteip 192.168.1.51-60

I typed ifconfig but I don't get any information about my dubnet whether 192 or 10.x.x.x
Any ideas on what to put in the config file?

Your subnet mask Mask:255.255.252.0
Your IP (which you have masked but is clear to see from the prompt x.x.x.198

Network: 88.208.239.252/30
HostMin: 88.208.239.253
HostMax: 88.208.239.254
Broadcast: 88.208.239.255

Which appear to be part of a class A, not local ip addresses.

I have no idea why that IP started appearing in the prompt - maybe a centos update or something. Any particular way to remove it in Linux?
