Unhappy Stop boot script at boot time!!

The ppp dialer process will not stop running at boot. Because i can not dialin to my isp the process keeps on trying to connect. If i turn off my modem linux just stays at that one process.

How do i kill this script becuase i cannot get to the linux terminal.

I've tried ctl-c ctl-x ctl-break with no avail.

!!

You could boot into single user mode

See here:
http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/l...ng-single.html

Then use chkconfig to remove the service: do
#chkconfig --list
when you get into your machine, to see all the services then do
#chkconfig <name-of-service> off
to switch off the service

Dave

P.S. Control-\ can stop some processes.
