Staroffice Bullets not saving


Hello,

i just bought a linux laptop even though i dont know anything about it. it has staroffice installed and it drives me bonkers when i write up a document for hours using bullets and when i open it after saving and closing it they have all turned to stupid little squares! :'( I save my documents as word xp. Any suggestions would be very helpful! thank you

What happens when you save in the native format (odf?) ? Same issue?
